Die willkürliche Aneignung von Privateigentum durch die Regierung sorgte für eine Degeneration des Unternehmertums. Staatliche Handelshäuser schwächten den Geist des Wettbewerbs im Bürgertum. Wahrscheinlich waren genau dies die Gründe, weshalb Ibn Khaldun so sehr einer Laissez-faire-Politik zugeneigt war.“
