Meine Schulzeit habe ich im groben und ganzen eigentlich recht erfolgreich aus meinem Gedächtnis verdrängt. Ich hatte nicht sehr viel Spaß am Lernen und somit auch nicht an der Schule. In Erinnerung blieb mir jedoch die Marotte meines Physiklehrers, den ich in der 5. Klasse der Realschule hatte. Ich war gerade von der Grundschule gekommen und freute mich sehr darüber endlich neue Schulfächer zu haben. Besonders Physik und Chemie hörte sich für mich sehr reizvoll an – was sich allerdings schnell wieder legte –.
Gleich die allererste Stunde Physik, bei diesem neuen Lehrer namens Herr K., war dermaßen prägend, dass ich sie bis heute nicht vergessen habe. Herr K. war bereits um die 50 Jahre alt, wird also heute wohl nicht mehr als Lehrer tätig sein. Er hatte einen kurzen Vollbart, war etwa 1,80m groß und von drahtiger sportlicher Figur. Man merkte sofort das er sehr selbstbewußt war und er strahlte eben die Disziplin aus, die er auch von seinen Schülern erwartete. Damals gefiel mir das garnicht, ich war eher undiszipliniert, aber heute weiß ich solche Lehrer sehr zu schätzen.
Er betrat also die Klasse, forderte uns auf still zu sein und stellte sich vor. Er hatte nur wenige Regeln, aber diese wollte er unbedingt umgesetzt sehen. Still sein, zuhören und nur sprechen wenn er es gestattet. Und dann ging es auch sofort los. 5. Klasse, 1. Stunde Physik, das Hebelgesetz. Er erklärte sehr ausführlich die mechanischen Bestandteile eines Hebels (Kraftarm, Lastarm, Drehpunkt usw) und machte die üblichen Skizzen an der Tafel. Am Ende dieser Ausführungen machte er uns dann mit der Tatsache bekannt, dass es für das Hebelgesetz eine mathematische Formel gibt. Nun begab er sich an die Tafel und schrieb dort 3 verschiedene mathematische Formeln auf.
„Welches ist die richtige Formel?“ fragte Herr K. einen Mitschüler. „Weiß ich nicht!“ sagte dieser ratlos. „Weiß es sonst jemand?“ fragte er nun in die Klasse. Aber niemand meldete sich. Natürlich! Das war die allererste Physikstunde unseres Lebens und wir hatten nicht die geringste Ahnung was überhaupt eine Formel ist. Anstatt uns aber darüber aufzuklären, machte er folgenden Vorschlag. Er forderte uns dazu auf, darüber abzustimmen. Jeder konnte sich eine der 3 Formeln an der Tafel aussuchen und dafür ein Handzeichen abgeben. Herr K. zählte für jede einzelne Formel die Handzeichen zusammen und schrieb sie darunter.
„Diese Formel hat die meisten Stimmen bekommen, es ist also die richtige!“ sagt er dann. „Und jetzt schlagt mal euer Physikbuch auf.“
Wir taten das natürlich und schlugen die Seite mit dem Hebelgesetz auf. Dort jedoch, oh Wunder, stand etwas ganz anderes. Die Formel, die bei unserer Abstimmung die Mehrheit der Stimmen bekam, war nicht identisch mit der im Buch. Wir waren verwundert und fast alle Schüler im Raum hoben ihre Hand um es dem Lehrer mitzuteilen. Er nahm einen der Schüler dran und ließ sich den Umstand erklären. „Aha?“ meinte er „Dann müssen wir in diesem Fall wohl auf das Schulbuch verzichten, denn immerhin war das ja eine demokratische Abstimmung. Jeder hatte die freie Wahl und gleiches Stimmrecht.“
„Außerdem,“ fuhr er fort „ist dieses Gesetz im Schulbuch von einem gewissen Archimedes formuliert worden. Der lebte vor weit über 2000 Jahren. Das ist doch heute garnicht mehr zeitgemäß, wir leben immerhin im 20. Jahrhundert, oder?“
Wir waren baff. Was sollte man dazu sagen? Natürlich wussten wir ganz genau, dass die Formel im Buch die richtige sein musste, aber wieso der Herr K. dieses Theater mit uns aufführte, dass haben wir nicht geschnallt. Und ich habe es auch viele Jahre darauf nicht kapiert. Erst in den letzten 4-5 Jahren, in denen ich eine begründete Demokratiekritik entwickelte und mich wieder auf ein altbewährtes, präexistierendes Recht berufe, kommt mir dieses Vorkommnis wieder ins Gedächtnis und ich empfinde es als eine Wohltat dieses Lehreres, der damit sicherlich nicht nach dem regulären Lehrplan vorging.
Leider ist die 5. Klasse für eine solches Fallbeispiel noch nicht ausreichend geeignet. Aber andere Lehrer sollten sich mal ein Beispiel daran nehmen und mit den Schülern auch die Demokratie mal kritisch unter die Lupe nehmen. Die Demokratie ist kein Werkzeug um die Wahrheit zu erlangen, sondern lediglich die Summe der Dummheit ihrer Teilnehmer.
