Wenn sich die gegenwärtigen Trends fortsetzen, kann man sicher davon ausgehen, daß das westliche Wohlfahrtssystem (soziale Demokratie) genauso zusammenbrechen wird wie der östliche (sowjetische) Sozialismus in den späten 1980er Jahren. Letztendlich wird der Verlauf der Geschichte durch Ideen bestimmt, mögen sie richtig oder falsch sein, und durch Menschen, die aufgrund dieser richtigen oder falschen Ideen handeln und von ihnen inspiriert sind. Der gegenwärtige Schlamassel ist ebenfalls ein Resultat von Ideen. Er ist das Resultat der überwältigenden Akzeptanz der Idee der Demokratie durch die öffentliche Meinung. Solange diese Akzeptanz vorherrscht, ist eine Katastrophe unvermeidbar, und selbst danach kann es dann keine Hoffnung auf Besserung geben. Andererseits kann, sobald die Idee der Demokratie als gefährlich und bösartig erkannt wurde – und Ideen können im Prinzip von einem Moment auf den anderen geändert werden , eine Katastrophe vermieden werden.
Die zentrale Aufgabe derjenigen, die den Trend umdrehen und einen vollständigen Zusammenbruch vermeiden wollen, ist die »Entlegitimierung« der Idee der Demokratie als Ursache des gegenwärtigen Zustand fortschreitender »Entzivilisierung«.
Zu diesem Zweck sollte man zunächst darauf hinweisen, daß es schwierig ist, in der Geschichte der politischen Theorie viele Befürworter der Demokratie zu finden. Fast alle großen Denker hatten nichts als Verachtung für die Demokratie übrig. Selbst die Gründerväter der USA, des Landen, welches heute als vorbildliches Demokratiemodell betrachtet wird, waren strikt dagegen. Ohne eine einzige Ausnahme betrachteten sie die Demokratie als nichts weiter denn als Herrschaft des Mobs. Sie sahen sich selbst als Mitglieder einer »natürlichen Aristokratie«, statt einer Demokratie befürworteten sie eine aristokratische Republik. […]
Wichtiger noch, es muß wieder deutlich gemacht werden, daß die Idee der Demokratie genauso unmoralisch wie unökonomisch ist. Bezüglich des moralischen Status der Demokratie muß darauf hingewiesen werden, daß sie es zuläßt, daß A und B sich verbünden, um C auszurauben, daß C und A sich zusammentun, um B auszurauben, daß sich dann B und C verschwören können, A auszurauben und so weiter. Dies ist nicht Gerechtigkeit, sondern ein moralischer Skandal; statt die Demokratie und Demokraten mit Respekt zu behandeln, sollten sie mit offener Verachtung behandelt und als moralische Betrüger lächerlich gemacht werden.“
