Alle Omaijadenkalifen, unter ihnen besonders die Söhne an-Nasirs (‚Abd ar-Rahman III., Kalif in Cordova, 912-961), waren so veranlagt, daß sie Blond vorzogen, ohne daß auch nur einer von ihnen von dieser Regel abwich. Ich habe sie und habe andere Leute gesehen, die sie ihrerseits gesehen haben von der Herrschaft an-Nasirs an bis heute: Sie waren allesamt blond nach ihren Müttern, so daß es bei ihnen eine angeborene Eigenheit geworden war, mit Ausnahme von Sulaiman az-Zafir (Kalif in Cordova, 1009-1010 & 1013-1016); denn ich habe gesehen, daß er schwarze Locken und einen schwarzen Bart hatte. Von an-Nasir und al-Hakam al-Mustansir (Al-Hakam II., Kalif in Cordova, 961-976) aber haben mir mein Vater, der Wesir, und andere erzählt, daß sie blonde Haare und blaue Augen hatten. Das gleiche gilt von Hischam al-Mu’aijad (Hischam II., Kalif in Cordova, 976-1009 & 1010-1013), Muhammad al-Mahdi (Muhammad II., Kalif in Cordova, 1009-1010) und ‚Abd ar-Rahman al-Murtada (‚Abd ar-Rahman IV., Kalif in Cordova, 1017-1019). Ich habe sie nämlich öfters gesehen, bin in Audienz bei ihnen gewesen, und da habe ich festgestellt, daß sie blond und blauäugig waren. Ebenso war es mit ihren Kindern, Brüdern und all ihren Verwandten.“
